Black American author wants Vladimir Putin to honor Russian princess
June 03, 2016
The Viking prince Rurik is credited with the founding of the Russian nation and a large monument was erected in the city of Novgorod to honor him. Rurik's wife Princess Efanda was not included in the monument and author Judith Martin has a problem with this. Ms. Martin believes that the princess is an equal founder of the Russian state and wants Russian president Vladimir Putin to build a separate monument in Novgorod to honor Princess Efanda.
Ms. Martin's new children's picture book "Saga of a Princess" is dedicated to the memory of this forgotten Viking princess. Prince Rurik is offered and accepts the throne of Novgorod a city across the sea, but wants his wife Princess Efanda to stay behind in Scandinavia. Efanda sneaks off and leaves for Novgorod. While on his way to Novgorod, Rurik runs into his wife and is shocked to know that she made the journey that he thought was too dangerous for her. Princess Efanda proved that she is just as brave and adventurous...

U.S. Continental tells its private label story
June 01, 2016
How we became the Leader in
Private Label Care
My story starts with my father. Starting from extremely humble beginnings, he spent his life as a serial entrepreneur; starting and failing at businesses. It was his last failure as a wine distributor that really stuck with me.
I recall the day leaving bankruptcy court with my father and his attorney. My father had just lost everything. I noticed the attorney's eyes were welling up with tears as we walked into the elevator. He turns to my father, looks him in the eyes and says, "Nick, you have lost everything. What are you going to do?" My father turns to me, looks me in the eyes and says, "Start over". It was at that moment, I understood what entrepreneurial spirit meant.
Two weeks later, my father and I were at the La Mirada swap meet selling trinkets out of the back of his leased Jaguar that had not been repossessed,...

June 02, 2016
Discount details are sent directly to seniors’ smartphones as an alert
Sciddy, a service that provides information on senior discounts, is launching a new application that makes it easier for seniors to remember when to ask. Users of the app will receive notifications while near a business with a senior discount listing, acting as a reminder and discovery tool for saving them money.
Sciddy began as an everyday discount site for seniors 50 and over (Sciddy.com), but the site’s data will now be exclusive to its mobile app. The app is free to download and features over 250,000 discounts in cities across the country. Sciddy.com has been redesigned to support the new app and reflect this change in direction.
“The app solves two basic problems facing seniors. We don’t always remember to ask for a discount nor take the time to look one up,” said Steve Mitchener, president of , which is the owner and operator of Sciddy. “Our previous...
